Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day.  Nonna is here visiting with Pappy and brought us this soccer ball ice cream maker.  Making ice cream was on our summer bucket list.  Since now we have two of these play and freeze ice cream maker, we made the wrecking crew work.  It takes about 20 minutes of shaking these things to get ice cream.

#1 Son thought it would be easier to shake a cow than these things.  Chuckles wondered why we didn't use our regular ice cream maker. They ended  up mainly rolling these in the grass.  Rolling got the job done and it was fun.

Almost Unschoolers had a budget solution for one.  It was a coffee can with with a smaller can. That works too.  The main drawback for us was getting the actual ice cream out of the ball.  Especially it freezes harder than soft serve.  Somehow, we manged..  I should of took pictures of that!  We topped off our ice cream with some strawberries we got at the Ferndale Farmer's Market.  YUM  Happy National Ice Cream Making Month too!
